Don’t Miss the Transit of Venus on Tuesday

At approximately 4:05pm MDT on June 5th, North Americans will once again be treated to a rare planetary delight.  Venus will visibly pass between the Earth and the Sun covering about 1/32nd of the sun’s face over a six hour time frame.  Although this will basically look like a black dot moving across the sun, it is a remarkable sight.  The next occurrence of a visible transit of Venus will not happen until 2117.

You will need good conditions and very good eyes to witness this alignment.  WARNING: The sun’s rays are too powerful to glance directly at the phenomena so please use protective eyewear!
